Interview: EstrelaBet celebrates regulation and projects growth

One of the main names in the national betting market, EstrelaBet gave an exclusive interview to Aposta Legal Brasil.
In the conversation, EstrelaBet’s business director, Fellipe Fraga, celebrated the approval of the regulation of fixed-odds betting in Brazil, highlighting the importance of clear rules for the sector.
He shared that the company grew 300% in the last year and that it projects similar growth for 2024, confident that the market will become more mature with the approval of Law No. 14,790.
EstrelaBet is the bookmaker with the largest number of sponsored teams in state championships. According to a survey by Brasil News , 13 teams have the support of the brand.

How long has EstrelaBet been operating in the national market and what has this journey been like?
EstrelaBet has been operating in the national market since 2021 in its current model, and it has been incredible to see not only the evolution of the company itself, but of the Brazilian market as a whole, through the change in culture where Brazilians have increasingly perceived products as entertainment.
What do you think about regulating sports betting?
Regulation is essential for the development of not only the iGaming industry but also for the direction of values to the country. Rules are important.

What is your opinion on the taxation and concession fee charged to companies? Do you consider it fair?
It is difficult to say whether there is fairness in taxation and concession fees. Each country knows its impacts.
What we are certain of is that the Federal Government, highlighting Dr. José Francisco Manssur, was connected and discussing with experts in the sector to find intelligent solutions for several debatable points in the legislation, including taxation and concession fees.
Brazil has good examples around the world, as well as bad examples of how these fees and taxes have impacted the market and the country.

How do you think regulating sports betting will help the market and bettors?
Above all, we will now have rules, and this will make the market safer for everyone involved, especially traders.
By overcoming the common undue feeling of something illicit, the market now has space to create partnerships with institutions to promote advances in technology and responsible gaming, for example.
Do you think there is something missing in the legislation? What points still need to be clarified?
The legislation that was sanctioned by the President of the Republic covers many points, but at the same time leaves many decisions and uncertainties up to the Ministry of Finance regarding the specificities that will be accepted or not.
There is uncertainty, for example, as to what types of gambling the law tolerates. But I trust that the best decision will be made, with a comprehensive understanding of the terms.
How does EstrelaBet intend to stand out in the market amid competition with big international names?
EstrelaBet always seeks to be a reference in the best entertainment available to Brazilians.
This involves first getting to know Brazil and its people, their habits and customs, but also seeking out the best technologies and agility in what we offer.
Moving on to football, what are the company’s sponsorship plans this year?
I can’t tell any secrets, but in any case we are very happy with the clubs and projects we support.
Speaking only about football, we have clubs from Series A to Series D as partners, in different regions of Brazil, all with an incredible team that takes care of these accounts, encouraging more than just brand consumption, but especially the club-fan relationship.

How much has the company grown and how much does it expect to grow in 2024?
To speak only of people involved with EstrelaBet, who somehow contribute to the daily flow, we had a growth of 300% in 2023, and we hope to continue on this path in 2024.
In general terms, the goal is always to surpass the past and even expectations for the present, and we have achieved that.
What are your expectations for this first year with the regulated betting market?
The expectation is that the market as a whole will mature, with bettors increasingly aware of and learning about the tools and entertainment opportunities in iGaming.
This will be challenging because it will demand from operators and providers a dynamism of awareness that the speed of Brazil demands, but at the end of the year we will certainly celebrate success for the industry as a whole.
